NExTWORK is a new service for disconnect young people to find their way to work or education.

The idea in NExTWORK is to increase the number of opportunities available and facilitate a process where young people and local companies together can try and find the best possible matches, thereby giving companies and youth a genuine choice and more ownership over the process.

The young people can rotate among companies as they need to progress or be exposed to different work opportunities or settings.

The NExTWORK service is currently running in Roskilde municipality, Denmark.

Young people

A group of young people for whom the long term goal is a permanent job, but who need to go through a developmental journey to be able to sustain engagement in work or educational activities to reach this goal.The developmental journey starts with their next work opportunity being with one of the companies in the local network. As a minimum, the young people must be able to engage in work activities for 15 hours per week.

The service

The idea in NExTWORK is to increase the number of opportunities available and facilitate a process where young people and local companies together can try and find the best possible matches, thereby giving companies and youth a genuine choice and more ownership over the process.The young people can rotate among companies as they need to progress or be exposed to different work opportunities or settings. They can stay with each company for periods of 6 weeks up to 6 months.

The companies

A network of local companies for whom the goal of their (voluntary) engagement is to improve the immediate employability of a group of unemployed young people by providing different work opportunities (internships).The network makes it equally possible for both very small and larger companies to participate.

Young people support

On a weekly basis among the group of young people for them to jointly reflect on the work-related experiences and challenges, to practice and rehearse simple techniques to engage pro-actively in the workplace and overcome challenges or personal barriers, to explore future direction and the needed steps towards their individual goals.

Company support

On a monthly basis in the company network to ensure the sustainability of the network, to strengthen the companies abilities to lead and manage vulnerable young people, to provide a platform for knowledge sharing and for how best to match the work opportunities within the network to the individual needs of the young people in the group.
